This week I have been busy knitting hats and cutting bib patterns (also started some bunting- two types) :) Thanks so much for your replies last week, im glad you like the business card :D
The novelty xmas hats are going slow but will also be adding to the stall chunky beenie hats with really big pom poms (quicker to make) and posted on a facebook site and got good responses from it :) I have made three colours so far, green, raspberry and white (made more white due to xmas type theme) will show you the green for now.....
Ordered some more chunky colours and might experiment with an Elsa/Rupunzel inspired design.... Maybe something for after the stall?
Been thinking about stall set up and will do mini white pom poms over the table (like snow) but will also try to have normal bunting and then felt mini hearts to go ontop of them (so double bunting) to make it look colourful (thinking Charlie and the chocolate factory sweet shop bright - as its for kids) been humming "pure imagination" while knitting! :P
Still need to dress it up xmas style so thinking mini white xmas tree or a snowman (do have Jessica's singing xmas teddy- knitted him a hat ages ago)....... but at least im now sure im going to do the fair :D as should have at least some stock out! Business cards I think I will use candy-canes as a card holder.
5/6 weeks to go...... helps that im on half term now :) will make a list of all things need to do.

With the bibs as said I have only cut patterns out so far (x5) got few polka dots and started xmas themed bibs:
So feel like a little elf crafting away when I can :) Will start on my facebook page this week- bit nervous about it as worried no one will want to visit :S Also trying to figure out pricing still- used a few websites but still think they are showing me too high a price for them- hope to find a balance soon :S
Really want to finish off my sensory band- just dont have enough hands! :( putting it back till after stall..

It's all looking good, I'm really pleased that you're definitely doing your first fair, you can come over here and play at stall set-ups whenever you like (and I shall be doing some playing for mine)

DeleteIt sounds like you are on a roll, it's a great idea to do a bit of a trial run with your table and how you are going to transport everything.
ReplyDeleteFacebook can be a good platform, it can be slow going at first, it's best not to worry about numbers and likes, just jump on in and enjoy. :)
The fair is only round the corner so partner can help me move boxes (i hope) defo need to crack on with it but its the fear of it not going well (but wont know until do it) thanks hun x
DeleteYou sound busy and as Jan said on a roll. Take a pic of your stall at the fair as would love to see it. Be prepared to sell the snowball pom poms as you will get asked for a price

DeleteDefinitely "pre"-plan your set-up. And if you can dry-run, clock your TIME! - Think Life-Size-Speed-Origami!
ReplyDeleteIf you have someone to help with unloading, BONUS! But if you're alone, use as few containers as you can and "combat-pack" them. [first thing you need to use on top, last thing on bottom]. If things are going to be displayed in baskets or solid boxes, stow them in those containers and in turn, place the display container in a sealable plastic bag. And if those can go into a bigger transporting bin, even better. As well, try to keep "assembly" of any racks or what have you to a minimum. Use zip-ties [or velcro ones] for connecting things if possible [use wire-cutters to undo them quickly]
Also invest in either a flat-folding mini-dolly or mini-flatbed. Carting is always less stressful than carrying! -- Allow 15-20 minutes for UNloading and parking your vehicle. [BTW, if you are alone and haven't been to the venue before, do a recce a few days before to check on WHERE you can unload and park!]
Stay hydrated.
As for "pricing"... Checkout any similar Fairs beforehand if you can. Or, if there's a list of Vendors to yours that's available, checkout Their websites! A little corporate "spying" is always useful! ;-D
But the IMPORTANT thing, stay CALM and have FUN! - Even if you don't sell ANYthing, be CHEERY! -- You can chocolate-binge and make voodoo dolls of nasty-cheap-skate people LATER!

Massive hugs hun thankyou for the advise- will look into containers and such- going to one start of november to see layout etc... and what their table length is etc so will have more of an idea :) haha voodoo doll x

A blog feels like your platform but a facie page is where you can chat with your regular followers and share in a more personal, immediate way. Also a great marketing tool.
